Networking vehicles with the infrastructure

The high-performance systems from Heusch/Boesefeldt guarantee the functionalities of central data transfer, data analysis and data provision for cooperative traffic management.

Detailed GIS basis

Heusch/Boesefeldt's systems can process highly granular geographic information online. Thus, detailed attributions of the network and infrastructure are no problem. Heusch/Boesefeldt has developed its own tools to display detailed GIS information down to lane striping and marking condition.

Analysis of FC data and messages

Since the first developments of FCD in the 1990s, Heusch/Boesefeldt has consistently accompanied this development. Our products include analysis procedures for FCD messages. For this purpose, we have developed our own procedures for checking the plausibility of the reports, which in particular also evaluate the representativeness of the sample.

On-the-Fly Map Matching

Car2X applications require map matching that is as flexible as possible and not bound to rigid segmentations. On the one hand, it must be ensured that the high-quality information from the vehicles is fed to the central management system with the highest possible level of detail and is retained there in this level of detail. On the other hand, the information and messages derived from the data analysis must also be specified for the applications in the vehicle with maximum location accuracy.
In our solutions we offer different referencing methods based on on-the-fly map matching (for example AGORA-C, OPEN-LR). With a Heusch/Boesefeldt solution, both the operator of the infrastructure and the recipient of the data on the vehicle side (service provider or OEM) are guaranteed a high-performance, i.e. in particular fast and accurate map matching.

Data fusion

In a cooperative control center, a wide variety of data sources such as detector data, messages and vehicle-generated data and events come together. From this spectrum of information, a maximum of information quality is generated so that high-quality services can be offered based on it. Intelligent model- and knowledge-based data fusion methods are essential in this context.

Message Management

As one of the pioneers of DATEX development, Heusch/Boesefeldt addressed the requirements of extended message management at an early stage. DATEX and TPEG are the essential data standards for message transmission from the public side to the service provider / OEM in the Car2X area. Our systems can also directly record and analyze the Car2X standards DENM, CAM and SPAT.

Cooperative Toolbox

Spatial pervasiveness of Car2X services requires that a variety of actors on the public side are enabled to deliver messages and information to service providers. However, it cannot be assumed that every road authority has access to a traffic management center or a traffic computer center.
Therefore, in the UR:BAN research project, Heusch/Boesefeldt is developing easy-to-install components based on web technology that enable cooperative services and functions in both directions (Car2I & I2Car). The development is based on a construction kit of cooperative applications, which can be summarized as a "cooperative toolbox".
From this universal toolbox, the following applications are worth mentioning:

  • Roadworks information system: Web-based input of roadworks messages with calculation and detection (via FCD) of the impact of the roadworks on traffic flow. This provides the option of filtering road works with regard to their traffic relevance.

  • High-precision traffic situation at the node through Car2X evaluations: Continuous evaluation of CAM messages at the node provides a highly detailed picture of the traffic flow at the node depending on the signal program. Extensive historical evaluations and visualizations provide the operator with a quick overview of the quality of traffic flow at the node.

  • Network-wide accident analysis: Accidents are digitally recorded via a web-based interface. The module automatically generates messages to the service provider and / or OEM at accident black spots.

The cooperative toolbox can be easily extended with further applications according to customer requirements.
