Automated driving in the digital test field Düsseldorf
KoMoDnext

In the KoMoDnext research project - Automated Driving in the Digital Test Field Düsseldorf - applications of connected and automated driving were developed and tested under real traffic conditions on public roads.
The project, funded by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, built on the developments and experiences of its predecessor project, KoMoD.
The vehicles were supported by digital information from the infrastructure, and at the same time, the data sent from the vehicles to the infrastructure was used to develop new infrastructure-based control procedures.
As subcontractor of the project partner Autobahn GmbH des Bundes – Niederlassung Rheinland (branch Rhineland), Heusch/Boesefeldt built and integrated a cooperative sub-center for the traffic control system on the BAB 57.
In the sub-center, the vehicle-generated data is merged with the data from the existing, stationary detectors. The results are incorporated into a new control model (according to MARZ 2018). The control model identifies measures for implementation on the existing display panels and, in addition, display panel independent measures for transmission to networked and automated vehicles.
As a subcontractor of the participating project partners, Heusch/Boesefeldt was also responsible for the project coordination, the technical project management and the management of the project office in KoMoDnext (as in the previous project KoMoD). The results of the research project were presented to a broad public at a press conference and a symposium
