A look back
Heusch/Boesefeldt in the year 2019

Besides many funny, bizarre, shocking and moving events, the year 2019 was marked by nothing more than by the topic "climate change", closely followed by the never ending and yet never really beginning "Brexit". For Heusch/Boesefeldt it was a good year. We would like to share its many small and big moments with you.

Our projects

Bound for the future - E21X

In 2019, the redevelopment of the Hessen Traffic Centre (VZH) under the project name E21X-System was started by Hessen Mobil. The aim of the project is the fundamental technological renewal of the control centre, whereby in particular the challenges of cooperative systems are to be taken into account and their possibilities made usable.

Heusch/Boesefeldt GmbH was commissioned to process the lots of "basic data" and "telematics platform". The task of these two subprojects is to provide the configuration process and the geodata on the basis of a digital map, to make it available at a central location for various functions, and to modernize the already established algorithms and adapt them to the new architecture.

VMIS 2.0

Last summer we were able to win the tender for the development of the new core system for traffic management of the high-level road network in Austria together with our partner companies EBP Deutschland GmbH and evon GmbH as consortium named VMIS-EHE. Even though the first system will only be put into operation in 2021, the project is still worth mentioning in this year's review in several respects.

From a traffic point of view, VMIS 2.0, with the first implementation of the new control procedures according to the new German MARZ 2018 (Leaflet for the equipment of traffic computer centres),  is the most noteworthy project in the field of traffic control on motorways with regard to innovation.

From an organizational point of view, the project is also a real challenge for a company with more than 40 years of experience in this field due to its size and complexity. With four parallel SCRUM teams alone at HB, it also enters uncharted territory in our industry as an agile project and has had a lasting impact on our everyday work in 2019.

News from the company

Working with Kafka, Kubernetes & Co.

Together with our clients, we increasingly rely on modern products for the deployment, scaling and administration of software components as well as for the realisation of basic system functions.

Kubernetes has become the open source standard for the orchestration of container applications at Heusch/Boesefeldt. Apache Kafka is used for data distribution and MongoDB as a document-based NoSQL database.

We offer technology enthusiasts and software experts in our readership a small insight into our "developer world" in our News.

Job bikes - the company leases my bike

Since August, Heusch/Boesefeldt employees have been able to lease a company bicycle from JobRad. The bicycles or pedelecs can be used for business and private purposes. Cycling keeps you fit and protects the environment. But of course you know that already.

Charging stations

There are just 48 public charging stations for e-automobiles in the Aachen region. At H/B, three colleagues already drive an electrically powered vehicle - and the trend is rising. In the middle of the year, the management decided to make sponsored electricity available to the employees at two charging stations on the company premises.

Onboarding in Cottbus and Aachen

This year we were able to "take on board" four new employees and one student for our Cottbus branch. The team of seven needed new space. Since the summer, the colleagues have been working on a new office floor in the city centre in Karl-Liebknecht-Strasse.

In Aachen we are very happy to welcome a former employee back to our company after a long break for children. Two new students are also supporting the team in our head office.

... and the best at the end

Once you have managed to position your company on the market for over 50 years, you can celebrate properly. Together with our customers, employees, business partners and retired employees, we presented new products at an in-house exhibition and gave a very appealing series of lectures by various speakers from the telematics sector.

At our Christmas party, our employees donated to children's homes in Ghana and India, schools and well construction in Kenya, the reintegration of drug addicts and the petition platform WeMove.EU. Especially to the projects in Ghana, Kenya and India there are personal contacts and the money goes 100% to the projects. The management doubled the donated amounts without further ado. Thus, a total of more than 3000 Euro in donations was raised.
