Release for traffic
Opening of the first tube of the Katzenberg tunnel

The new Katzenbergtunnel replaces the old route of the A3 near Würzburg, which had become unacceptable for the residents due to the noise level. The tunnel ceiling will be modeled close to nature and will bring two districts of Würzburg closer together after its completion. New paths, green spaces and leisure facilities will be created on it.

Heusch/Boesefeldt supplies the software for the traffic control system in the tunnel and the upstream bridge area.

In contrast to most other tunnels, the Heusch/Boesefeldt sub-center controls the displays in the tunnel and permanently compares them with the operational requirements of the tunnel operating technology.

In addition to software development, joint operator training courses on the aspects of "traffic control" and "combination with tunnel operating technology" were also part of the scope of services provided by Heusch/Boesefeldt GmbH.

The sub-center has been running without interruption since the release for traffic in February of this year. To bridge the gap in the event of maintenance work or hardware failures, the sub-center is configured as a redundant system and automatically switches to a hot-standby system if problems are detected.
